  • SQA's Use of Zoom

SQA Headquarters has received some questions regarding known issues with Zoom security since SQA is using Zoom for the upcoming new series of SQA Connect Lounges and for Committee and Specialty Section meetings. The SQA Connect Lounge is being hosted on Zoom Webinars rather than Zoom Meetings - it is a slightly different version of the platform that offers enhanced security options. In addition, for both Zoom Webinars and Zoom Meetings, Zoom is working to address security concerns every day; those of you with the Zoom program downloaded to your computer have undoubtedly noticed several updates in the past week, all of which are for enhanced security. As Zoom updates occur, SQA continues to configure its Zoom account settings to limit possible Zoom-crashing or other security issues while still leaving the platform functional for discussions.

While we understand the security concerns, SQA has done considerable research and work on limiting the possibility of security breaches. That said, if you cannot participate in the SQA Connect Lounges due to your company's restrictions, we will be recording SQA Connect Lounge conversations whenever we get permission from the panelists to do so, and video recordings of those conversations will be available to members the week following each live conversation.

For Committee and Specialty Section meetings, you are always welcome to dial in by phone, bypassing the Zoom interface on your computer entirely. If your Committee or Specialty Section routine discusses documents displayed on the screen via Zoom during meetings, you will need to ensure you have those documents downloaded from your SQA Connect community and available on your computer for your personal viewing while you participate in the meeting via phone.

If you have any questions, please contact SQA Headquarters at sqa@sqa.org.
